Dwarka, on the coast of Gujarat, is one of the four dhams of India and is closely linked with Lord Krishna. Pilgrims believe it was the capital of his kingdom.
What to See on a Dwarka Yatra
Dwarkadhish Temple: this is the main temple of Dwarka, dedicated to Lord Krishna as the King of Dwarka. It stands near the point where the Gomti river meets the Arabian Sea.
Gomti Ghat: many pilgrims take a holy dip here before going for darshan.
Bet Dwarka: this island near Okha is traditionally connected with the home of Lord Krishna and is a popular part of the yatra.
Nageshwar Jyotirlinga: this temple near Dwarka is regarded by many devotees as one of the 12 Jyotirlings.
How to Reach Dwarka
Dwarka has its own railway station. Jamnagar is the usual nearby airport, about 130 km away. Many pilgrims also combine Dwarka with Somnath, which is reached by road.
Best Time to Visit
October to March is usually the most comfortable time. Janmashtami is the biggest festival in Dwarka, and the town is very crowded around that date.
